My name is Laura Card, I’m a Nutrition Counselor and Holistic Health Coach, and a founder of the Happy Healthy You wellness practice.
I’m also a publisher of the Rochester Wellness Guide, an online directory dedicated to providing information about holistic and alternative health practices, green and future-friendly businesses, natural and organic products, and other resources for balanced, healthy, and happy living.
My passion for health and wellness started many years ago, and continues to grow ever since. After moving to the United States in 2001, and living here on so called “standard american diet” (SAD) for little over a year, my body started to deteriorate… Visiting one doctor after another, getting countless tests, taking enormous amounts of medications didn’t do any good, so I started looking for help in different places. One alternative healthcare book led to another; simple cleansing programs and diet adjustments made a huge difference, and helped to relieve most of the symptoms. This led me to become very passionate about studying and promoting health-supporting nutrition, as well as holistic and natural living.
I later decided to pursue formal training in the field of nutrition and health counseling, so I could turn my passion into career. After thorough research, I enrolled in the Health Coaching Program at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN), the largest and, I believe, most respectable nutrition school in the world. IIN teaches over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques, and cutting-edge coaching methods. Health Coaches from IIN’s training program learn from top experts in the field of health and wellness including Dr. Andrew Weil, Dr. Deepak Chopra, Dr. David Katz, Dr. John Douillard, Dr. Mark Hyman, and David Wolfe, among many others.
My studies at IIN increased both my passion and knowledge related to nutrition and health counseling. My education has equipped me with extensive expertise in holistic nutrition, health coaching, and the importance of preventive care. Drawing on my education and experience, I work with clients to help them make the dietary and lifestyle changes that produce real and lasting results.
